Codroipo, known in antiquity as Quadruvium, was initially located at the crossroads of Roman highways, founded at the same time as Aquileia. During the Middle Ages, following the dissolution of the Roman Empire and the diffusion of Christianity, the village migrated to the Pieve, the site of the current Cathedral, and was eventually enclosed by a defensive wall and a moat. With the construction of the railway crossing, the urban setting changed, the boundary wall disappeared and the moat was covered. Our proposal aims to increase the site’s historical value by using the circular shape of the Foro Boario and the ancient island of  the Duomo. We propose a shared space for the centre, in order to maintain the coexistence of pedestrians and vehicles, protecting those on foot by reducing the speed of the cars. The idea is to create a usable space, aimed at cultural revitalization, repopulation, increasing of tourism and activities. The circulation has been proposed a greenway, which remains accessible to the vehicles. The rearrangement of the traffic provides the confinement of the site along the suburban ring, the orbital road, formed by the intersection of the roads to Pordenone, Udine and Trieste. The Garden becomes a park, containing services and events, and in which the heirloom trees are maintained and integrated. The great plane tree initiates a spiral that rises to the ziggurat, at the top of which is an observatory. The relocation of the bus terminal near the train station and the proposal of two little hills containing car parks, give to the surface of the Garden, continuity from Via Piave to the station. The proposal involves the replacement of the poor quality buildings with two new objects, both are open on the ground floor and see-through to the upper levels, to interact with the space and expand the view to the monuments.
